hidden wonders: animals switching shifts on tropical reefs
AustraliaTuesday, December 3, 2024
This isn't just a fun fact; it also means that the fish that eat other sea creatures (predators) and those that munch on plants (herbivores) are less active at night. So, the nocturnal invertebrates have their own little party without much interference from the daytime crowd. But why is this important? Understanding this shift helps us better manage and protect these beautiful reefs. Scientists often study reefs during the day, so they might be missing half the story if they don't also look at the night shift!
