Helping Doctors Choose the Right Medicine
Saturday, December 28, 2024
First, they're looking for common patterns, or biosignatures, in people with these mental illnesses using something called GWAS and multi-modal omics. Then, they're testing if an intense treatment plan works better than the usual one. After that, they'll create a tool to help doctors figure out who's at risk of not responding to treatment.
This tool will be part of a new approach where doctors and patients make decisions together. The project also focuses on teaching patients and healthcare workers about this new method. Finally, they're making software to help doctors choose the best treatment quickly and individually for each patient.
This project could change how mental illness treatments are chosen, moving from a trial-and-error approach to one based on real evidence and individual needs.
