Health Care Providers' Thoughts on HPV Vaccine for Adults

In the U. S. , adults aged 27 to 45 can get the HPV vaccine if they haven't been vaccinated before. A recent study looked into what doctors think about this guideline. Researchers talked to 18 health care providers through virtual interviews. They asked about how these providers discuss the HPV vaccine with their patients in this age group, and what they think about the guideline. The doctors said they recommend the vaccine, but they use different factors to decide who should get it, like the patient's age, relationship status, and history of HPV.

They also suggested that medical reminders and short educational materials could help with making decisions together with patients. However, not all doctors understood the guideline the same way, which might lead to unfair differences in how the vaccine is offered.
