Some federal health agencies have temporarily stopped sharing certain information, like updates on food outbreaks and flu vaccinations. This pause is part of a wider communication break ordered by the Trump administration. It gives the new team time to set up their own way of sharing important health news. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) usually updates us on food-related illness outbreaks every Wednesday, but not this week. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also skipped publishing their usual health report last Thursday.

This break affects how local health departments and nonprofits track vaccine uptake and disease outbreaks. However, some critical updates, like the weekly tally of infectious diseases and emergency room visits, are still being shared. A memo from the acting Health and Human Services Secretary ordered this pause until February 1.
