It's high time for a reality check. Republican Gov. Mike DeWine of Ohio is tired of the toxic lies spewing forth from the Trump-Vance camp about Haitian immigrants allegedly stealing and eating people's pets. "This is a piece of garbage that is simply not true. There's no evidence of this at all," DeWine boldly declared on ABC's "This Week." But will anyone listen? Trump and Vance have repeatedly peddled these falsehoods, fueled by a toxic cocktail of racial bias and political desperation. The consequences, however, are all too real.

So, let's ask: what exactly is Trump and Vance's motive for spreading such egregious misinformation? Are they trying to whip up a lynch mob, to distract voters from their own party's failures, or to fan the flames of xenophobic hatred? Are they wilfully ignorant of the harm their words can cause, or simply choosing to exploit it for political gain? Whatever the case, their actions have already led to real-world consequences: bomb threats against Springfield schools and Wittenberg University, forcing evacuations and closures. 

It's time to blast Trump and Vance's narrative for the garbage it truly is. By promoting these lies, they're contributing to a culture of fear, division, and hatred. Can we really afford to let their toxic rhetoric reign supreme, or will we stand up and demand better from our leaders?

Isn't it time to call out the elephant in the room – namely, the elephant-sized hole in Trump and Vance's credibility? Their words have real-world consequences, and it's time we stopped pretending otherwise.
