Former Official Warns of Trump’s “Cruelty” Towards Migrants

Castro, appearing on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, criticized Homan’s “cruel” approach to handling migrant families. Homan plans to bring back family detention centers, which were ended during the Biden administration. He suggests that parents of US-born children should decide whether to stay together or not.

Castro argued that migrants often flee dire circumstances like violence and hunger. He condemned Homan’s “too detached” view of immigration, stressing that it ignored the human aspect. Though Homan mentioned potential “open-air campus” detention centers with childcare and education, he also pledged to end the “catch-and-release” policy for all migrants, including families.
