Fire Targeting Jewish Charity Ambulances Sparks Outrage
A blaze erupted early Monday morning in London’s Golders Green, setting ablaze four ambulances operated by a Jewish volunteer group. The fire was deliberately set, and police are treating it as an antisemitic hate crime—though they have not labeled it a terrorist attack. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The ambulances belonged to Hatzola Northwest, an organization that delivers emergency medical care. When the fire started, oxygen tanks on the vehicles exploded, shattering windows in a nearby apartment building. Residents were evacuated for safety.
Security footage captured three hooded men carrying a canister toward one of the ambulances before flames erupted. Police are still searching for the three suspects, and no arrests have been made yet.
The incident has rattled Britain’s Jewish community, which already feels increasingly unsafe. Local groups and leaders have condemned the attack as a serious threat to emergency services that serve the area. The event follows a rise in antisemitic incidents across the UK, especially after conflicts involving Israel and Gaza.
Government officials, religious leaders, and community representatives have all called for unity against hate. They urged authorities to protect vulnerable groups and prevent such violent acts from spreading further.
