A man who had a brief moment of fame on a popular TV show, ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, a 39-year-old fashion designer, was simply walking by a protest. He had no idea that his life would be cut short in an instant. Ah Loo was not part of the protest. He was not even aware of the danger lurking nearby. The protest was one of many happening across the country that day. They were all against the president at the time.  This particular protest was in Salt Lake City. It was called "No Kings".  The protest was peaceful until a man named Arthur Gamboa decided to bring a rifle.  He was not part of the protest either.  He had no connection to Ah Loo.  He was not even aiming at Ah Loo.

The man who shot Arthur Folasa Ah Loo claimed he was trying to keep the peace. He said he was a volunteer helping to keep the protest safe. He saw Gamboa separate from the crowd and hide behind a wall. Then Gamboa pointed his rifle at the protesters. The volunteer shooter said he felt he had no choice but to fire. He shot three times. One of those bullets hit Gamboa. The other hit Ah Loo.  Ah Loo was in the crowd nearby.  He was not the intended target.  He was just an innocent bystander.  He died at the hospital soon after.  Gamboa was arrested and charged with murder.  He had only minor injuries.  The volunteer shooter was not charged.  He was not aiming at Ah Loo.  He was trying to protect the protesters.  It was a tragic accident.  It was a senseless loss of life.  It was a reminder that violence can strike at any time.  It was a reminder that even in a peaceful protest, danger can lurk.  It was a reminder that one moment can change everything.
