A big shake up rocked the basketball world recently. Luka Doncic, a superstar player, was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Lakers. His fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, a model and influencer, shared a brief message with Dallas fans. She posted a simple "Thank you" with a blue heart emoji on her Instagram Story.  Goltes shared Doncic’s goodbye letter titled, “Dear Dallas, ” which was posted after the Mavericks agreed to trade the five-time NBA All-Star to the Lakers for a package that included Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick. This trade involved a third team, the Utah Jazz. Utah received Jalen Hood-Schifino and a pair of second-round picks.

The couple’s journey started when they met as young kids on a beach in Croatia. Doncic and Goltes are a power couple in the world of sports and fashion. In 2023, Doncic proposed to Goltes near Bled Castle in Slovenia. Goltes became a mother five months before their proposal. She shared the happy news of her daughter Gabriela on Instagram on Dec. 1, 2022. The couple announced their engagement with a simple caption, “7. 7. ”  Goltes’ lovely face was once featured on the cover of Cosmopolitan Slovenija in 2019. She was already popular in her home country before she became famous worldwide.

The trade had a huge impact on the NBA world. Doncic was the key player for the Mavericks, leading them to the NBA Finals last season. Dallas traded Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris to Los Angeles for a combination of players and draft picks. The trade was finalized after midnight on a Sunday morning. It was a big surprise for everyone.    It’s interesting to think about the future of NBA. What will happen next? The only thing we know is the NBA world is constantly changing.  Doncic could have stayed with the Mavericks for much longer. He was eligible for a five-year, $345 million super-max contract extension this summer. He can become a free agent in the summer of 2026.  If Doncic had stayed with the Mavericks, it would have been a big deal for the team.  The money involved in this deal is huge.
