Fake Video Stirs Up Election Scare

A weird video popped up online, claiming that a Haitian guy voted in two different counties in Georgia. The video said he voted for Kamala Harris, just six months after arriving in the US. Georgia's top election person, Brad Raffensperger, thinks this video is fake and meant to trick people. He even asked Elon Musk, who owns the platform where the video was posted, to take it down. Raffensperger believes the video might be from foreigners trying to mess with the election. He's working with federal officials to investigate. This isn't the first time something like this has happened. Last week, a fake video was blamed on Russia, trying to make a politician look bad. Elon Musk has been a big supporter of Donald Trump. He's given lots of money to a group promoting Trump. Musk has shared false claims about election fraud before. The video with the Haitian guy was shared in a group on Musk's platform, but not by Musk himself. In the video, the guy claims to have voted in Gwinnett and Fulton counties. Both counties have had problems with the 2020 election results. Some officials there question the results and support new rules that give local election people more power to refuse certifying results.

The video started spreading around 1 PM on Thursday and has been watched over half a million times. Trump and his partner in the election, J. D. Vance, have been saying bad things about Haitian migrants, claiming they're doing silly things like eating neighbors' pets. Trump even said he might send them back to Haiti, even though most are living in the US legally. It's against the law for non-citizens to vote in federal elections. But some Republicans think Democrats are letting migrants vote to win elections. They might use this as an excuse if the 2024 election doesn't go their way. A group in Georgia that doesn't trust election results shared the video on their Facebook page. A woman said the guy in the video should go to jail. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene also shared a video on the same platform, claiming voting machines were switching votes. This was proven wrong by local officials. She's still saying machines are switching votes and shared another video from Arkansas.
