Faith on the Campaign Trail: Harris & Trump's Unusual Approach
USAMonday, October 21, 2024
Kamala Harris has a complex religious background, having been raised by a Black Anglican father and an Indian Hindu mother. She is married to a Jewish husband and is a member of a historic Baptist church in San Francisco. Although she rarely talks about her faith publicly, she does mention it occasionally, especially when speaking to Black audiences.
Trump, on the other hand, has a complicated relationship with religion. He was raised Presbyterian but considers himself a nondenominational Christian. His support comes largely from evangelicals who share his political agenda rather than a spiritual connection.
Harris and Trump both have intricate religious journeys that might not resonate as well with voters compared to Biden's straightforward Catholicism. They are navigating a landscape where religion is less of a deciding factor for many voters.
