Some influential figures online are accusing Musk of using his social media platform to punish those who disagree with his support for the visas. Musk, who was chosen to lead President-elect Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency, has clashed with Trump supporters over the visas. Prominent Trump backers like Laura Loomer, Ann Coulter, and former Rep. Matt Gaetz have criticized Musk and his co-chair Vivek Ramaswamy for their pro-H-1B visa stance. In response, Musk allegedly removed Loomer and other members of the right-wing Conservative PAC's verification badges. Loomer claims she was stripped of her verified status and her ability to gather paying subscribers due to her opposition to the H-1B program. She labeled Musk a "free speech fraud. " Preston Parra, the chairman of Conservative PAC, stated that approximately 53 accounts linked to their organization lost their verified badges. He emphasized that the real backbone of the right wing and MAGA supporters won't stand idly by while tech billionaires "steal their country. " The PAC also posted on the platform, questioning if Musk intentionally shut them down.
