Schizophrenia, known for its brain dysconnectivity issues, has puzzled scientists who wonder if childhood trauma (CT) affects this. A study looked at whether self-reported CT can explain the brain's wiring issues in these individuals. This study compared structural brain connectivity in people with schizophrenia (SZ) and healthy individuals. The goal was to see if CT has a unique impact on brain dysconnectivity in SZ compared to the overall brain structure and connections.

Researchers used a different approach to examine brain networks, focusing on whether CT’s effect goes beyond what we see in the brains of healthy controls (HC). The study aimed to understand if CT could explain some additional variance in dysconnectivity seen in those with schizophrenia. unexpectedly, CT didn't show a strong association with the brain's wiring issues.
