The Lions tied the game at 21-21 in the third quarter with a touchdown and a two-point conversion. However, the 49ers quickly regained the lead, 28-21. The Lions narrowed the gap with a field goal, making it 28-24. Before the end of the third quarter, the Lions scored another touchdown, leading 31-28.
