DeSantis and Harris: The Stormy Politics Behind Hurricane Prep

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis found himself in a heated argument with Vice President Kamala Harris after he reportedly ignored her calls about Hurricane Milton. Harris called his actions “selfish” and “irresponsible” during a press conference. DeSantis, however, defended himself, saying he was focused on Florida and hadn’t dealt with Harris before. He was even unaware of her attempts to contact him. DeSantis also accused Harris of trying to make the situation political. The governor was busy preparing Florida for the hurricane, which is expected to hit soon.

The feud started when DeSantis didn’t answer Harris’ calls about the storm. An aide said he skipped the calls because they seemed political. Meanwhile, the White House said they tried to reach out for help but DeSantis didn’t respond. The governor later said he’d be ready to talk if more resources were needed. He was focused on clearing debris left by Hurricane Helene and activating the National Guard for the new storm.
