Cyberattack on US Medical Firm Sparks Global Shock

A hacker group linked to Iran attacked a U. S. medical equipment maker, Stryker, on Wednesday. The hit caused a worldwide break in Microsoft services the company uses. Stryker said there was no sign of ransomware or malware, and that it believed the problem was contained. Their teams were busy checking how much damage occurred. During the raid, a banner from the group called Handala appeared on login screens. The banner warned that the attackers had taken 50 terabytes of data from Stryker. The group claimed they were striking back for the death of 175 schoolgirls in Minab after U. S. -led strikes.

Handala first showed up in 2022 and has been tied to Iran by several security firms. They have also targeted Israeli companies before. One Stryker employee told NBC News that phones given to staff stopped working, and the company’s 56, 000 workers could not run their jobs. Some phones lost data too. Stryker sent a memo telling staff to ignore suspicious links and remove management apps from phones. The company said the problem was wide‑spread and hurting access to services. It is unclear how Handala carried out the attack or if they really took the data. Stryker and Microsoft have not answered further questions.
