Cyberattack on US Medical Firm Sparks Global Shock
United States, Kalamazoo, USAThursday, March 12, 2026
Handala first showed up in 2022 and has been tied to Iran by several security firms. They have also targeted Israeli companies before.
One Stryker employee told NBC News that phones given to staff stopped working, and the company’s 56, 000 workers could not run their jobs. Some phones lost data too.
Stryker sent a memo telling staff to ignore suspicious links and remove management apps from phones. The company said the problem was wide‑spread and hurting access to services.
It is unclear how Handala carried out the attack or if they really took the data. Stryker and Microsoft have not answered further questions.
