Crypto Money: Why Some Democrats Are Upset
California, USASaturday, October 19, 2024
One of these candidates, Michelle Steel, is in a tight race with a Democrat named Derek Tran. Tran supports blockchain technology, but he hasn't said much about what he thinks about cryptocurrency rules. Steel, on the other hand, has a history of voting for things that are good for cryptocurrency.
A spokesman for Tran's campaign thinks Fairshake is more interested in keeping the House of Representatives in Republican hands than in helping crypto. But a Democrat named Ro Khanna has also received money from the crypto industry. He's gotten $250, 000 this year.
Overall, the crypto industry has spent over $119 million in this election cycle. That's a lot! Since 2010, they've spent $129 million, making them the second biggest spender after the fossil fuel industry.
Fairshake says they just want to support candidates who are good for cryptocurrency, no matter if they're Democrat or Republican. But not everyone is convinced.
