Could Planets Orbit the Black Hole at Our Galaxy's Core?
Galactic CenterThursday, December 19, 2024
But how would we find these planets? Scientists are optimistic that upcoming telescope upgrades, like those for the Very Large Telescope and Extremely Large Telescope, could help. Florian Peißker, a researcher at the University of Cologne, Germany, said, "Our discovery lets us speculate about the presence of planets. It seems plausible that the detection of planets in the Galactic center is just a matter of time. "
The study was published in Nature Communications, and it's called 'A binary system in the S cluster close to the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A*'.
