City Finance Director Steps Down After 19 Months

Beth Krosse, the finance director for Avon Lake, announced her resignation during a city council meeting. The mayor praised her work. He said the city had hired her in December after a thorough search and interview process. According to him, she exceeded expectations by improving the budget process and increasing transparency in city finances. He also noted her role in leading the income‑tax levy effort that appeared on the May ballot.

Councilmember Jennifer Fenderbosch’s Tribute

Councilmember Jennifer Fenderbosch highlighted Krosse’s skill in explaining complex financial matters. Residents often praised her for answering questions openly and directly. Fenderbosch said she keeps asking, “What else would you like to know?” to ensure everyone understands the options.

Interim Plan

Mayor Spaetzel said the city plans to pass legislation that would allow Krosse to serve as interim finance director on a part‑time basis after her resignation. He stressed the importance of having a finance director for all departments.
