Citi and American Airlines Join Forces for Travel Lovers
Citi has just made a significant move for travelers who love flying American Airlines. They've added American as a transfer partner for their ThankYou Rewards program. This means cardholders with certain Citi cards can now move their points directly to American's AAdvantage program.
The New Citi Strata Elite® Card
The new Citi Strata Elite® Card is at the center of this change. It offers some cool perks, like:
- Annual passes to American's Admirals Club lounges
But it's not just about the new card. Existing cardholders with the Citi Strata Premier® Card and the Citi Prestige® Card can also transfer their points to American.
A Strengthening Partnership
This partnership isn't new, but it's getting stronger. Citi and American have been working together for a long time. Now, they're taking it to the next level. Citi is the only major card issuer that lets consumers transfer rewards directly to American.
What This Means for You
If you have one of the eligible Citi cards, you can now transfer your ThankYou Rewards points to American's AAdvantage program at a 1:1 ratio. That's a straight swap, no complicated math.
The Catch
- You can't just bring anyone into the Admirals Club with you.
- If you bring three adults, you'll use up all your annual passes.
- However, you can bring up to three children without using up your passes.
A Permanent Change
This isn't the first time Citi has offered American transfers, but it's the most permanent. Before, American was the largest U.S. airline without a credit card transfer partner. Now, they've joined the club.
More to Come
American's senior vice president of AAdvantage, Scott Long, hinted at more to come. This partnership is just the beginning. So, if you're a frequent flyer, keep an eye out for more perks.
