This growth brings in more revenue, around $5 million, which can be used for essential services. However, this growth also brings challenges, especially in housing and public safety.
Public Safety and Crime
One major issue is crime, particularly in downtown and the Over-the-Rhine (OTR) area. To tackle this, the city is focusing on:
- Getting illegal guns off the streets
- Improving security in parking lots with better lighting and cameras
- Adding up to 150 new police officers
- Investing in youth programs to provide positive outlets and job opportunities
Public Services
Public services are another area that needs attention. There are too many potholes and trash on the streets. The city has made some progress, like:
