Christine Brown From 'Sister Wives' Chooses Not to Seek Spiritual Divorce

Christine Brown, a star of the show 'Sister Wives, ' doesn't want a spiritual divorce from her ex-husband, Kody Brown. She believes that her marriage ended in 2021 and doesn't need church leaders, whom she doesn't respect, to make it official. Christine and Kody were spiritually married in 1994, but they never tied the knot legally. After their relationship fell apart, Christine decided to walk away on her own. She says she doesn't need anyone's permission.

Janelle Brown, another of Kody's former wives, also isn't interested in a spiritual release. She's unsure who to ask and doesn't feel the need to pursue it. The Browns were part of a Mormon fundamentalist group that practices polygamy. Meanwhile, Meri Brown, Kody's first wife, is seeking a spiritual divorce. She wants to be released from her vows to Kody. Meri legally divorced Kody years ago, but she still feels spiritually married to him. After years of trying to work things out, she decided to talk to church leaders. She was granted her release, and Christine and Janelle are happy for her.
