S. vacation spots are safest and which carry higher danger during peak season. The researchers examined burglaries, thefts, and car break‑ins across 25 popular destinations. The safest places have the lowest crime rates per 100, 000 people. The top spot is Park City, Utah, with only 136 incidents per 100, 000 residents. San Diego and Santa Barbara in California follow closely at 139 each. Charleston, South Carolina, West Palm Beach, Florida, and Boston, Massachusetts also rank low, showing that safety can be found in both the West Coast and the East.

In contrast, Honolulu, Hawaii tops the risky list with 442 incidents per 100, 000. Seattle, Philadelphia, Denver, Nashville, and San Antonio also have high numbers, all above 390. Honolulu’s danger mainly comes from larceny, which spikes during summer months. Crime trends vary over time. Miami’s property crime jumped 60% since 2022, the biggest rise in the study. Nashville saw a 22% increase, while West Palm Beach dropped 34%, showing that even nearby cities can move in opposite directions. California overall improved, with San Francisco down 31% and Santa Barbara down 18%. A surprising warning comes from Kansas City, which has the highest car theft rate among popular travel spots.
