The precipitation will start as snow, with a gradual shift to a messy mix of sleet, freezing rain, and rain as temperatures rise overnight. This will make for a slippery morning commute on Thursday. The storm will exit the region by mid-afternoon, leaving behind a mix of rain and slush.

The storm's path will take it through upstate New York, pushing warmer air into New England. This warm air will lead to a change from snow to a wintry mix and potentially rain as the night goes on. Snow totals will vary across the region, with higher amounts expected in the northern and central parts of New England. The southern parts of New England will see lower snow totals, with a mix of rain and slush.  Expect ice to form on surfaces, making driving conditions hazardous.

The storm is moving quickly, which will limit the overall snow totals. However, the mix of precipitation types and the potential for ice will make for tricky travel conditions on Thursday morning. The storm will move through quickly, with the worst of the weather expected to be over by mid-afternoon.
