Chiara Ferragni, a prominent Italian fashion influencer, has been cleared of all charges related to a charity fraud case. The trial, held in a Milan court behind closed doors, concluded with the judge dismissing all accusations. Prosecutors had sought a sentence of one year and eight months for aggravated fraud, but the judge ruled in Ferragni's favor.

Relief and Innocence Affirmed

Ferragni expressed relief following the verdict, stating that the ordeal had been challenging. She reiterated her belief in the justice system and her gladness that it had ultimately prevailed. In 2023, she was fined nearly 1.1 million euros by Italy's competition authority for misleading claims about her Pandoro Christmas cakes. The packaging suggested that purchasing them would support a children's hospital, which was not entirely accurate. Additionally, Ferragni agreed to pay at least 1.2 million euros to a children's charity to resolve a separate case involving her Easter eggs.

Allegations and Communications Error

The controversy stemmed from allegations that consumers were misled into believing their purchases were directly benefiting charities. In the case of the Pandoro cakes, the Turin-based Regina Margherita pediatric hospital was mentioned, while the Easter eggs were linked to the "I Bambini delle Fate" children's charity. Ferragni admitted to a "communications error" in December 2023, which led to stricter regulations on charity giving in Italy.

Legal Team's Stance

Despite the negative publicity and canceled partnerships, Ferragni's legal team maintained that the matter had no criminal relevance. They argued that all controversial elements had already been addressed and resolved. The trial's conclusion brings an end to a difficult period for the influencer, who can now focus on rebuilding her reputation and career.
