The city of Charleston has opened its doors to a three‑day celebration that mixes art, outdoor fun and wildlife learning. From February 13th to 15th, downtown spaces such as The Charleston Place, Brittlebank Park and the Gaillard Center will host a gathering that has grown from a small local event into the biggest wildlife‑focused festival in America.  

About 500 artists, experts and exhibitors will show their work or share their knowledge with roughly 40, 000 visitors. The festival is run by a nonprofit that aims to inspire people about the outdoors while also supporting wildlife protection. In addition to art displays, there will be live shows, competitions and interactive stations that let families learn about nature in a hands‑on way.  

Families can explore special children’s areas that have been upgraded with help from the Charleston Parks Conservancy. These zones offer science‑based activities and games that teach kids about plants, animals and ecosystems. The event also keeps some classic favorites like the DockDogs contests and bird‑of‑prey demonstrations.  

New additions this year include a series of talks called “Beyond the Page: Modern Huntsman Live, ” where storytellers discuss outdoor adventures, and daily turtle shows run by the Turtle Survival Alliance. These programs aim to deepen visitors’ connection with wildlife and encourage stewardship of natural habitats.  

The festival is not only a cultural highlight; it also contributes an estimated $33 million to Charleston’s economy each year. Tickets can be bought online, at visitor centers or directly on site, and children under ten enter free. An ongoing online auction offers unique packages that combine art pieces with outdoor experiences for those who want to take a piece of the festival home.
