During the pandemic, several stars like Gal Gadot and Will Ferrell sang John Lennon’s “Imagine. ” The song’s message of a world without borders or possessions felt out of place when many people were losing jobs and loved ones. Maher said this was another example of tone‑deaf behavior from the rich. Overall, Maher believes that public figures should listen more and act less. He encourages celebrities to stop preaching from a safe distance and instead join the everyday people they claim to support.
