Celebrities Stand Up Against ICE at Golden Globes
At the Golden Globes, some stars chose to highlight a serious issue.
Mark Ruffalo and Wanda Sykes wore pins saying "BE GOOD" and "ICE OUT." This was their way of protesting recent ICE-related shootings.
Mark Ruffalo Speaks Out
Ruffalo spoke openly about his feelings. He mentioned two people killed by ICE officers:
- Renee Good in Minneapolis
- Keith Porter in Los Angeles
Ruffalo didn't hold back. He criticized the president and the current state of the country. He said what's happening is not what America stands for.
Wanda Sykes Urges Action
Sykes also had strong words. She urged people to speak up against the government's actions. She believes it's important to stand up for what's right.
Part of a Bigger Movement
This protest was part of a bigger movement. The ACLU organized events across the country. They wanted to honor those lost and demand change. The goal was to show the human cost of ICE's actions.
Other Celebrities Join In
Not all celebrities talked directly about ICE. Jean Smart mentioned the tough times we're living in. She acknowledged that some find it annoying when stars speak out. But she felt it was important to use her platform to address these issues.
