Celebrities and Soldiers Team Up for a Good Cause
In a small town called Maxton, something extraordinary happened on November 20th. Celebrities and Special Forces soldiers came together for a unique event: the Celebrity Green Beret Tactical Challenge. This event is not just about fun; it's also about raising money to support soldiers and their families.
The Challenge
The challenge included various activities:
- Shooting
- Archery
- Knot-tying
Celebrities learned from the soldiers, who are experts in these skills. Some celebrities had never even held a gun before, but they quickly picked up the skills with the help of their soldier partners.
Participants and Teams
This year, 12 teams took part in the challenge. The celebrities included:
- Randy Couture, a UFC champion
- Michael Ray, a country singer
They were paired with soldiers who have served in the Special Forces. The soldiers taught the celebrities how to shoot and complete the other tasks, giving them a glimpse into the soldiers' world.
The Organizers
The event was organized by a nonprofit called the Special Forces Trust. They host this challenge and other events to raise money for soldiers and their families. The funds go to programs that support:
- Mental health
- Family retreats
The trust was started by Green Berets who saw the need for more support for soldiers and their families.
Celebrity Reactions
- Laura Zerra, a repeat participant, said she enjoyed the experience despite not training much this year.
- Tony Saunders found the knot-tying challenge tough but was happy to participate. His family's military background made the cause even more personal for him.
The Event Highlights
The event also included:
- A celebrity roast
- An awards dinner
Attendees could pay to support the cause. The money raised goes to programs like:
- Beyond the Battlefield (suicide prevention)
- Mettle and Moxie (family retreats)
A Night of Unity
The Celebrity Green Beret Tactical Challenge is more than just a competition. It's a way for celebrities and soldiers to connect and for the community to support those who serve. It's a reminder of the importance of giving back and the impact that can be made when people come together for a good cause.
