It had winds of about 35 mph, but forecasters predict it will intensify, possibly becoming a tropical storm by Monday. They also expect it to shift direction, moving more northwest. Heavy rain is expected, with Jamaica and southern Cuba potentially getting up to 9 inches.
Residents in Cuba and the Florida Keys are advised to keep an eye on this storm. It's expected to near Jamaica by late Monday and the Cayman Islands by Tuesday and Wednesday. Flooding and mudslides are possible in the affected areas. The system might also bring heavy rains to Florida and the southeastern U. S. by the middle to end of the week.
