Breast Cancer Patients Benefit from Specialized Care

Breast cancer patients often face a tough journey, especially after surgery and during radiotherapy. A recent study shed light on how specialized care can make a big difference. The research involved 102 patients who had their first radiation treatment between July 2021 and June 2022. These patients were split into two groups. One group received standard nursing care, while the other got extra support through comprehensive professional case management. This included personalized interventions, like extended care for those with infusion ports. The study used three scales to measure the effects of this extra care. These scales looked at anxiety, depression, and self-efficacy, which includes positive attitude, self-relaxation, and self-decision making. Before starting radiotherapy, both groups had similar scores on these scales. However, after treatment, the group with extra support showed significant improvements. Their anxiety and depression scores were much lower compared to the standard care group. This suggests that the extra support helped them cope better with their emotions.

Self-efficacy scores also improved for the group with extra support. They reported higher levels of positive attitude, self-relaxation, and self-decision making. This shows that specialized care can boost a patient's confidence and ability to handle their situation. The findings highlight the importance of personalized care in managing the emotional and psychological aspects of breast cancer treatment. It is clear that comprehensive professional case management, along with specialized intravenous therapy nursing, can greatly improve the overall well-being of breast cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. This is a critical insight for healthcare providers and patients alike.
