Brain and Neck Blood Vessel Fixes: Which Work Better?
Friday, January 24, 2025
The study compared 17 earlier studies that used either surgery or endovascular treatment. Surgery involves opening up the brain to fix the problem, while endovascular therapy uses tiny tools inserted into blood vessels to repair the issue.
Interestingly, they found that both treatments had about the same success rate in completely fixing the problem. But, endovascular treatment seemed to have a lower risk of complications.
Still, endovascular treatment might not be the best choice if the problem is more complex or if the blood vessels are in a tricky spot. In those cases, surgery might be the safer bet.
It's important to remember that each patient is different, so what works for one might not work for another. That's why it's crucial to get personalized advice from a healthcare professional.
