Boosting Sugar Beet Harvest: The Power of Slow-Release Boron
northeast-ChinaTuesday, December 31, 2024
Boron fertilizers also improved the nutritional profile of the beets. They increased the accumulation of boron in the roots, which in turn reduced the levels of amino nitrogen and sodium. At the same time, the sucrose content went up. This resulted in a higher yield of white sugar, with increases ranging from 3. 5% to 35. 7% in black soil and 5. 8% to 20. 8% in albic soil.
This study highlights the potential of slow-release boron fertilizers to enhance both the yield and quality of sugar beets in northeastern China. Farmers can consider this as a effective strategy, with a recommended application rate of 30 kilograms per hectare.
