In the aftermath of a devastating mass shooting in Birmingham's Five Points South neighborhood, local business owner Anthony Crawford is calling on the community to put aside their fears and cooperate with law enforcement to bring the perpetrators to justice. "It's time for people to stop being afraid of 'snitching' and come forward with any information they may have," Crawford said. "We need to get these individuals off the streets, and the quicker we do, the safer our community will be." The shooting, which occurred on Saturday, left four people dead and 17 injured. While no suspects have been identified, Crawford believes that stronger gun control laws are necessary to prevent such tragedies from happening again.

"In Alabama, you don't need a background check to carry a gun, and people carry them like they carry their car keys," Crawford said. "That's ridiculous. We need to take a closer look at our gun laws and make sure they're protecting our communities, not putting them in harm's way." Crawford's restaurant was not directly affected by the shooting, but he was concerned for the well-being of his employees, who were unharmed in the attack. He hopes that the incident will not deter people from visiting Birmingham, which he calls an "anomaly" in an otherwise safe and welcoming city. "We have so many wonderful attractions, historical landmarks, and things to be thankful for," Crawford said. "Let's not let this incident overshadow all the good things Birmingham has to offer."
