Marshall Faulk set a new NFL record for touchdowns in 2000. Playing for the St. Louis Rams, Faulk scored three touchdowns and gained 220 yards, leading his team to a 26-21 victory over the New Orleans Saints.
In 2003, Steven Jackson, a standout player from Oregon State, tied a bowl game record with five touchdowns. Oregon State dominated New Mexico in the Las Vegas Bowl, winning 55-14.
Colt Brennan made history in 2006. He broke the NCAA single-season record for touchdown passes by throwing five in the second half of the Hawaii Bowl. Brennan's performance led Hawaii to a 41-24 victory over Arizona State, with a total of 58 touchdown passes for the season.
David Akers added his name to the record books in 2011. Playing for the San Francisco 49ers, Akers made four field goals to set a new NFL record with 42 field goals in a season.
