Beyoncé's Country Journey: A Story of Exclusion
Los Angeles, California, USAMonday, October 7, 2024
Beyoncé herself has spoken about this. She knows that Black artists have been mastering multiple genres for ages, but often don't get the recognition they deserve. Her song, "Texas Hold 'Em," was a global hit and helped revive country music in various ways. But it seems the industry isn't ready to accept her, or other women of color, with open arms.
Being excluded from the Country Music Awards is more than just a snub. It sends a message that despite Beyoncé's success, she and others like her aren't truly welcome in country music. It's a disappointing reminder that this versatile genre still has a long way to go when it comes to inclusivity.
