In the heart of Bellevue, a building with a rich history is set for a major transformation. The old garage at 180 Fairfield Ave., once a beloved auto shop, is about to become a vibrant hub for food and fitness.
From Auto Shop to Community Hub
The building, known as Gravett's Garage, was a staple in the community for many years. It was a place where locals would bring their cars for repairs and chat with Butch Gravett, the last owner, who inherited the shop from his father.
A Vision for the Future
The building's new owner, Thirty9 Property, sees great potential in this space. They bought it for $607,000 in December 2024. The company is known for turning old properties into welcoming homes and thriving commercial spaces.
Lukas Gamm, the owner of Thirty9 Property, has been renovating buildings since 2011. He believes the Bellevue-Dayton area is bustling with activity and sees this as the perfect spot for new businesses.
A Mix of Businesses
Gamm envisions the 6,705-square-foot building housing a mix of businesses. It could be leased to one tenant or divided among several. He has already received interest from various businesses, including:
- Yoga studios
- Gyms
- Doughnut shops
- Breakfast places
- A steakhouse
However, nothing is finalized yet.
Preserving the Past, Embracing the Future
The building's architecture will blend rustic charm with modern details. Gamm plans to preserve the original feel of the building, which dates back to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The exterior will feature:
- Outdoor seating areas
- Glass garage doors
- A neon sign
- A rooftop deck
Inside, they will create a "white box" space, allowing future businesses to customize it to their needs.
A Timeline and a Vision
Gamm hopes to have the building ready by summer 2026. He is optimistic about attracting businesses that will contribute to the entertainment vibe of the district. The goal is to make the building a place where people can come to:
