Rustad's history of climate change denial and opposition to what he calls "indoctrination" in schools also raised eyebrows among Indigenous leaders who worry his "radical political positions" could undermine the welfare of all British Columbians.Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, president of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs, urged voters not to ignore this: "As a great grandfather, I urge you to pay attention. Rustad has proven himself supportive of bizarre wingnut conspiracy theories and displays contempt for human rights and reconciliation at every turn. His economic worldview is 'drill baby drill' with no concern for our environment or grandkids."
The council's message was clear: Our beautiful environment, children, and grandchildren don't deserve the "destructive" legacy of a Rust a Rustad government.
