Art Show Supports Local Kids' Creativity
A gallery in Old Greenwich is hosting its second annual art show, Art Today-Futures Tomorrow, opening on Oct. 25. This event is more than just an exhibition—it's a community-driven initiative to support local kids' access to arts programs.
A Mission to Give Back
The gallery, ART06870, opened in 2023 with a mission to give back to the community. Last year, its first show funded 10 workshops for kids, led by professional artists at the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich, local schools, museums, and other galleries.
This year, proceeds will support visual arts, theater, and music programs, with a goal to provide free private music lessons for under-resourced students in grades 4-12.
A Collaborative Effort
The exhibition is a collaboration with the Greenwich Alliance for Education (GAE) and is supported by the Developing Artist Program, which receives grants from:
- Greenwich Alliance
- Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development
- Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA)
- National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)
The Power of Art
Art is deeply connected to culture, history, and personal growth. Access to the arts, especially at a young age, can be transformative—expanding perspectives and fostering creativity. In today's digital world, physically creating art provides a unique sense of accomplishment and stress relief.
How to Participate
The community can bid on pieces featured in the exhibition, with bidding starting on Oct. 25. Guests can also view and bid on art in person at the gallery.
