Apple's Upcoming iOS: What to Expect in 2025
Boston, MA, USAFriday, June 6, 2025
Battery management is another area where Apple might make improvements. There are rumors of AI-powered battery management that analyzes device usage to conserve battery life. Additionally, a new charging icon on the lock screen could show an estimated time for when the battery is fully charged. There are also whispers about reverse wireless charging being tested on the iPhone 17 Pro models, allowing users to charge accessories like AirPods or the Apple Watch directly from their iPhone.
The Messages app is also in line for some updates. It could get an Apple Intelligence-powered translation feature that automatically translates messages as they arrive. There might also be a polling feature for group chats, with AI-generated poll suggestions. Additionally, users could get the ability to set a background image in Messages, similar to features in WhatsApp and Instagram.
Apple might also bring its Preview app from macOS to iPad and iPhone users. This app would allow users to annotate and edit PDFs, and it is expected to be preinstalled.
Another small but exciting feature could be coming to Genmoji, allowing users to combine existing standard emojis in creative ways.
One notable absence from the rumors is any mention of the impressive Siri capabilities highlighted in Apple's 2024 presentation. While some AI-related announcements are expected, the primary focus seems to be on design changes and improvements to existing Apple Intelligence features.
