Apple Eyes New Smart‑Glasses Styles to Beat Meta

Cupertino, California, USA,Monday, April 13, 2026

Apple is busy designing a range of smart glasses that will let users pick the look they like best. The company has reportedly made at least four different frame shapes, from a wide rectangle similar to classic Wayfarers to slimmer rectangles and both large and small oval or circular options. Each shape will come in several colors, giving customers plenty of choices.

The firm is also thinking about a unique camera system. Instead of the usual flat lenses, Apple plans to use vertically oriented oval lenses with lights around them. This feature would set the glasses apart from Meta’s current models and help people recognize Apple’s design right away.

Industry research shows the smart‑glasses market is still in its infancy, but it’s growing fast. A study by Counterpoint Research noted a 139 % jump in sales during the second half of 2025 compared with 2024, largely thanks to Meta’s product line. Apple aims to follow suit.

What the glasses will do is similar to other devices in the market: they will have built‑in cameras for photos and videos, microphones and speakers for calls and music, and a multimodal AI that can answer questions through Siri. Apple plans to announce the product sometime this year or early next year, with deliveries expected by late 2027.

Apple has not yet confirmed these details publicly.
