Allergic Alert: Wheat in Tortilla Strips Leads to Recall

Sugar Foods, the company behind the snack, discovered wheat in their Fresh Gourmet Tortilla Strips Santa Fe Style. Yikes! This is a big no-no for people with wheat allergies. You might be wondering, how did this happen? Someone noticed that their bag of Tortilla Strips was actually filled with Crispy Onion Strips, which contain wheat. Oops! This mix-up led to the recall of the 3. 5 ounce bags with the UPC Code 7 87359 17504 6 and a best by date of June 20, 2025.

Luckily, there haven't been any reports of people getting sick. But if you have a wheat allergy, it's better to be safe than sorry. If you bought these strips between September 30, 2024, and November 11, 2024, double-check the bag. The recalled strips were shipped to distribution centers in many states across the country. If you find you have the recalled strips, don't eat them! Return them to where you bought them for a full refund, or just toss them out. It's not worth the risk. This isn't the first food recall this month. Organic carrots from big grocery chains like Trader Joe's and Wegmans were also recalled due to a possible E. coli contamination.
