Alamosa High School's wrestling team kicked off their season with a strong victory against Brush, the defending state champions. The Mean Moose dominated the match, winning almost every bout.

Key Wins

  • Julian Naranjo: Won with a major decision.
  • Jeremiah DeLaCerda and Jonovan Gutierrez: Both won by technical fall.
  • Anthony Meder: Pinned his opponent in just 51 seconds.
  • Martinez Brothers (Uriah and Daniel): Both won by pin.
  • Elijah Salazar: Won by forfeit.
  • Tony Griego and Caleb Quintana: Added to the team's lead with their own pins.

Brush finally got on the board with a win at 175 pounds, but Alamosa didn't let that stop them. They kept their momentum going, with Jovanny Mendoza, Max Dokson, and Aaron Jordan all securing wins. Dokson's technical fall was particularly impressive.

Coach's Perspective

Coach Rusty Johnson was happy with the team's performance but knows there's still room for improvement. They have a busy schedule ahead, including a tournament in Rocky Ford and a big test at the Montrose Tournament.

With their strong start, the team is looking good for the rest of the season.
