The summit's co-hosts, Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, have both made significant investments in AI. Macron announced private sector investments totaling nearly 109 billion euros the day before the summit began.
The participation of Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing indicated China's serious interest in the rise of AI. The recent release of the Chinese AI model DeepSeek, which rivals OpenAI’s ChatGPT, has also caught the attention of the tech industry.
Vance's background includes working with tech leaders in Silicon Valley as a junior venture capitalist and serving as an Ohio senator.
