The Oscars might soon need films to share if they used AI to make the movie.

AI is everywhere in movies, not only in high-tech visual effects but also in sound and music. Many different films, like "The Brutalist" and "Dune: Part Two", have used AI in various ways. Big shots in the movie world are now thinking about making it a rule for movies to say if they used AI or not. There are some people in the Academy who think that this is the only way to have the truth in the films.

The stuff about AI making movies is not new. There are several tools using AI, for example, Revize from Rising Sun Pictures.

The Visual Effects Society Awards has a category for cool new tech, and there are a lot of tools using AI in the list. Revize, for example, can change faces, make people look younger or older, and more. This tool was used in the film 'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga' to show the character Furiosa growing up. This was done by slowly changing the look of the actress playing her from a child to an adult. Robert Beveridge, a machine learning 2D supervisor, said, "The trick is not to add too much of the adult features when the character is still a kid. "  This cost a lot of money. But the tools are designed to save money on the screen.  This is how  the tools are used.

AI tools are also used in popular programs, like CopyCat in Nuke.

It was used in "Dune: Part Two" to make the eyes of the actors playing the Fremens look blue.

The director of "The Brutalist" said that they used AI to improve the Hungarian language dialogue in the movie. The director said that "Adrien and Felicity’s performances are completely their own. "  It is like a vote for using AI.

People who know a lot about movies say that it’s important to tell the truth about what was done with the tech.  They also think it’s important to make sure that the story is the most important thing in the movie. One person said, "That’s always going to be the case. " This is a good point to consider.
