The University of Cincinnati's football community is grappling with a sudden and tragic loss. Jeremiah Kelly, a promising freshman football player, passed away unexpectedly at his home on a Tuesday morning.  His absence is deeply felt by his teammates and coaches.

    Kelly was a standout athlete from Avon, Ohio. He played a key role in leading his high school team, the Eagles, to an undefeated season and their first-ever state championship in 2024. His performance earned him top honors, including first-team all-conference and all-district recognition, as well as the SWC Lineman of the Year award.  This was a huge deal for a young player.  He was also ranked among the top 25 prospects in Northeast Ohio by The Plain Dealer.

    Kelly's impact extended beyond his athletic achievements. He was an early enrollee at the University of Cincinnati, joining the football team for spring practices. His presence on the field and in the locker room made a real difference in a short amount of time.  He was a positive influence on his teammates.

Head coach Scott Satterfield expressed the team's grief, stating that Kelly had made a significant impact in his brief time with the team. The coach's words reflect the deep sense of loss felt by everyone who knew Kelly.  The coach also extended his condolences to Kelly's family and those who had the privilege of knowing him.
