A Supermarket Heist and Identity Theft Uncovered
A recent crime spree in Vacaville has left authorities and victims alike shaken. Two individuals from Suisun City were taken into custody after a series of thefts and identity fraud incidents. The main event was a supermarket robbery where over $2,500 worth of over-the-counter medications were stolen.
Investigation and Arrests
The investigation kicked off when police reviewed surveillance footage and spotted a gray Mazda SUV linked to the crime. This led them to identify Jamie Charles Maurice Thomas, a 42-year-old suspect. Undercover officers and traffic cameras played a crucial role in tracking down the suspects. They found out that Thomas was staying at a local Motel 6.
During a traffic stop in Fairfield, police pulled over the Mazda SUV. Inside, they found Ondraya Wroten, a 40-year-old woman, driving the vehicle, with Thomas sitting in the back. A search of the car revealed:
- A large amount of stolen medications
- Fentanyl
- A radio that might have been used to eavesdrop on supermarket staff
Further Discoveries
The investigation didn't stop there. Police executed a search warrant at the motel room where Thomas was staying. They discovered:
- Counterfeit money
- Fake checks
- Stolen mail
- Passports
- IDs
- Bank statements
The documents contained personal information of about 80 victims. One victim even reported that their home had recently burned down, adding to the severity of the crimes.
Charges and Consequences
Both Thomas and Wroten were arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail. They face multiple charges, including:
- Forgery
- Possession of stolen property
- Possession of personal identifying information for multiple victims
