Google is expanding its new voice assistant, Gemini, to more TVs. Previously, only a select few smart TVs had this feature. Now, if you own a Google TV Streamer, you can give it a try.
What You Need
- A TV with an HDMI port
- A stable internet connection
- Your Google TV Streamer ready to go
Gemini vs. Old Google Assistant
Gemini is designed to be more conversational than the old Google Assistant. You can:
- Get movie suggestions based on your and your friends' preferences
- Ask for a summary of the last season of a show
- Control smart home tasks, like viewing a camera feed
How to Get the Update
The update is rolling out over the next few weeks. To check if it's available:
- Go to your Google TV Streamer settings
- Navigate to "Accounts & Profiles"
- Select "Voice Assistant"
- If eligible, you'll see an option for "Gemini for TV"
What This Means for Google
This is a major step in making Gemini more accessible. Will it be better than the old assistant? Only time will tell. For now, if you have a Google TV Streamer, it's worth a try!
