Popescu explained that he was attracted to the script because it lets him craft a mythic, emotional story while staying true to the harsh reality of war. He believes the core message is about people facing forces beyond their understanding and how they cope with them.

The production schedule shows both films will be shot consecutively, giving the director a chance to build continuity and depth across the series.
